About

Pouriā Nasiri born in 1998 in Shiraz, Iran; is a music composer, violinist, researcher, university lecturer and computer science engineer. His compositions focused on usage of materials of Iranian classical music and folk music of Iran including melodies, rhythmic figures and etc. in the context of classical music.

He initiated his journey in music by attending violin classes in the age of 10. after some years, he begins the courses of playing Iranian music known as “Radif” for violin. After about 7 years, Pouria realized his passion and compassion for music composition and changed his route into music composition.

Pouria received his B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Shiraz University (2016 – 2021) and studied with Dr. Reza Boustani1 and other faculty members of the Computer science & Engineering department.

According to a Master’s approach to Modern and Contemporary music period (Latest 19 century and beyond) at Iran (Tehran) University of Art, Pouria learned contemporary music composition, Music Form and Analysis, and Contemporary music orchestration under the guidance of Hamidrezā Dibāzar2Mohammad-Rezā Tafazzoli3 and Dr. Madjid Tahriri4. He also learned Research Methods from Dr. Hamid Askari Rābori5.

With an overall GPA of 4 and a perfect score of 20/20 on both theses, he received his master’s degree in arts from Iran (Tehran) University of Art (2021–2024). His compositional work, or practical thesis under the supervision of Dr. Madjid Tahriri, was a piece for solo violoncello and string quintet called “Mourning,” while his theoretical thesis was titled “Research methodologies and thematic analysis of Masters’ theses statements of music composition in Iran’s state universities from 2011 to 2021” under the supervision of Dr. Hamid Askari Rābori.

Pouria also participated in some music composition and musicology courses like tonal harmony, tonal & modal counterpoint, tonal music composition, orchestration, Iranian classical music analysis, classical style study composition, form and analysis, twentieth century and contemporary music harmony, orchestra conducting and etc. lectured by Ehsān Saboohi6Ebrāhim Bazrafkan7, Sepehr Pirāsteh8, Sepantā Hamedinejād9, Soroush Naziri10 and Dr. Loris Hoviān11. He also participated in workshops and courses on ethnomusicology, among other topics, conducted by Prof. Mohammad-Rezā Azādehfar12 and Dr. Hoomān As’adi13.

He has won awards from music festivals and composition opportunities in countries such as Iran and the United States.

Currently, Pouria teaches at the music department of “The Fazel Art and Culture Institute of Higher Education” and music academies in his hometown and online. In addition, he conducts research in the domain of art studies, specializing in music interdisciplinarity studies.
